Rollup 1 for Exchange 2007 SP2 released

Today Microsoft released Rollup 1 for Exchange 2007 SP2. A KB with all updates included in this rollup is available here (KB 971534).

A feature I like in this rollup is a check for Internet connectivity to avoid problems with services that need to check certificate revocations list, if your server doesn’t have access to Internet you get a warning about that. Personally I think this will avoid a lot of trouble.

Vacation and vacation mistakes

This week alone I have heard from two different companies that their Exchange servers didn’t work. In both cases it’s been due to the fact that someone has patched Exchange. Patching/updating is a good thing but there are some things to think about!

  1. Only update Exchange with an account that has permissions to admin Exchange (it’s recommended to use the same account as you used to install Exchange)
  2. Update the roles in this order:
